ABOUT

Experienced. Love music, God and fun. And my wife, of course. Oh, and the kids.
Played for years in an Indie/Pop band chasing a deal before family came along 2000ish Gigged widely, including international festivals. Biggest audience 4500.
Have always had very strong church drumming connections, playing regularly in band playing contemporary pop/funk/gospel/rock. Church is now the main place I play publicly, but in a 600 seat venue with full PA.
I love the intimacy of a small, acoustic gig, and equally playing on a big stage.
Diligent, professional attitude.
Proficient and creative. Most comfortable in a pop/rock style, but really interested in much wider range of creative styles. I guess I could be happy playing for fun in a covers band, but I really want to create great music that stirs me.
Used to playing to click/sequence. Multitracks used routinely in my church.
The downside: I am very busy school teacher with a lot of commitments, so I don’t have time for extensive rehearsing/gigging, but I do put in the practice at home to make sure I get things right. Having said that, I have a long summer holiday coming up..!

Influences

All sorts of drummers/styles, although I doubt I sound like them! I really like trying to mix sounds and influences, e.g. building percussive sounds into acoustic kit,
Music:
Pop (U2, Radiohead, Simple Minds, Tears for Fears, London Grammar, Police, Siouxsie, Sting, John Mayer, and loads of other stuff)
Rock (Audioslave, Foo Fighters, Pineapple Tree, Porcupine Thief, Steven Wilson, Marillion)
Celtic Pop/Rock (Iona, Eden’s Bridge)
Drummers: Terl Bryant (Iona, etc), Stewart Copeland, Vinnie, Gavin Harrison, Manu Katche, Benny Greb, Johnny Rabb, JoJo Mayer... and anyone else doing something new and interesting
I listen to lots of styles of music, but I am not really a jazz, latin, reggae kind of drummer.
