About
Backwater were formed in 2008 by 4 experienced live musicians and are Scotland's only Status Quo tribute band. They played their first gig, collectively, at the Eagle Tavern, Prestwick in June 2009, where a short set was well received by an appreciative audience.
A further high profile gig was played in Mauchline, Ayrshire in Nov 2009 and received critical praise from many hardcore Quo fans. This resulted in them being asked to open the Scottish Status Quo convention, "McVention V" held in Paisley, May 22nd 2010. On being asked, Backwater immediately recruited Peter Cassidy of club duo Fresh as their lead guitarist, a move which further enhanced the status of the band.
Deemed a success within the band, McVention V resulted in them being asked to participate in the "Apollo 25" rock show in association with Rock Radio on Sunday, 18th July 2010, The Highlight Club, Renfrew St, Glasgow. The event is to mark the 25th anniversary of the Apollo theatre's closure and will feature AC/DC, Thin Lizzy tributes as well as Backwater. More details below on the Calendar.
Backwater continually strive to hone their early 70's "Frantic Four" Quo sound & expand their setlist to try and cover most periods within Quo's history. This can be seen with the recent inclusion of the more modern, "Creepin' Up On You" from Quo's current live set.
Backwater's core fanbase has been growing with each gig. Check out the Calendar below to catch them live near you. See also, all of the YouTube vid's from McV at "Slinkymcv's Channel" or click through from the video section on here. Don't forget to vote for your favourite!
