She Hit Me First are a spirited, edgy, buzzsaw guitar rock band from the South East of England, formed in the summer of 2005. The foundations were set in place by Gareth and Davy pooling their ideas with the intention of creating melodic songs that would set pulses racing. With a pocketful of motivation and some rough instrumentals to bargain with the search was then on for a singer to bring the music to life. After trawling the web and meeting up with countless people not sympathetic to the cause Davy then came across Andy. One brief meeting later, just to make sure they didn’t all hate each other, the songs then began to take shape, with Andy adding not only strong pop melodies, but complete stories compressed into a few verses and choruses. Having grown tired of drumming in bands where it took as long to set up the samplers as the drum kit, Matt was instantly endeared to the simpleness of the sound and joined after one jam session without hesitation. Shut away in his studio they then produced and recorded their “Drive Like You Stole It” CD which has been decribed as Jimmy Eat World meets Metallica with Billy-Joe at the mic. Further depth was added to the sound when Steve joined on bass, providing the driving pulse that has become a familiar characteristic of the band’s music.
